Cleveland can be a good place to live in the Summer, and this weekend will be proof to those doubters. Friday the weekend will kickoff in high style at the Happy Dog. If I were you, I'd careen into the club right after work for "Polka Happy Hour" with DJ Kishka. I realize that sounds sort of iffy. Trust me, it's the best. Scratchy polka records spun by a dude in a fake beard with an ocean of great beer options is perfect way to start the weekend. After DJ Kishka has spun the last dusty hit, Death By Rodeo will make the magic happen. These guys are fast becoming one of the best rockabilly bands in the region, and trust us on that, we've seen most of the rockabilly bands in the region. The Daredevils will then play everything Sugar knows, and that will hopefully include even more tunes off the upcoming CD, and maybe even a couple new originals.
Saturday is a day of rest. This weekend you need to get ready for Sunday and the Burning River Fest at Whiskey Island. It's an all day affair, with plenty of sun, and plenty of Great Lakes Beer including the dreaded Xmas Ale. I heard tales last year of people staggering around out in the sun all fueled up on the powerful Christmas Ale. I can't imagine this year would be any different, especially with the Daredevils closing the Festivities at 5pm. We're going to get there early though, and I'd suggest you do the same. It's an all ages event, so bring the kids and let them wander off while you get shitfaced. It's what Summer is all about.
One more thing... Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival is all worked up about us playing on a Sunday and have threatened to protest our gig at The Happy Dog by setting up and playing outside the club. We don't know if they'll follow up on this wild threat, but don't be surprised to see these religious pests bashing out their God Rock on the corner of West 58th and Detroit Rd on Friday night. Don't throw money in their collection plate. In only encourages them.
