This week the Whiskey Daredevils have been playing shows with Eddie Spaghetti of the Supersuckers. Here's what we can tell you about the package. Eddie is touring behind his third solo record, and plays a selection of good songs that are comprised of Supersuckers tunes, well chosen covers, and I think some solo originals. He's got the "new" Supersuckers guitar player laying in electric leads, so it's not a straight acoustic show. We've played with the Supersuckers about six times now. I don't think we have ever had a conversation longer than eleven seconds with Mr. Spaghetti. We've heard people we trust say he's a swell guy, but we can't tell you from personal experience. Leo did introduce himself in Erie, and said "Hello! My name is Leo. I don't think you know me, but after tonight you will." As Greg/Ken/Gary split early to get a jump on the drive after the Erie set, we do not have a report as of press time if this socialization came to pass. Regardless, the show tonight with the Not So Good Old Boys/Whiskey Daredevils/Eddie Spaghetti at the Beachland seems like the best way to pass your Friday night. Please note, if you are a smoker and plan to stand out front for a Winston, RaRaRiot is playing the Ballroom so you can also look at some people much younger than you in very skinny jeans and ironic t shirts. Showtime is allegedly 9p with the Daredevils expected on stage about 10p.
The bass player situation is now under control. We will be making a Major Announcement about the new Whiskey Daredevils bass player in the coming days. To end a certain strain of speculation, it is neither Geddy Lee or Jimbo from the Rev. Horton Heat. It's not Jimbo from the Lords either... Stay tuned for complete Whiskey Daredevils info.
Recording for the new CD has been confirmed for May. The new release will be available this Summer on both 12 inch vinyl on the German label Knock-Out and CD in the States from Drink N Drive. For you vinyl hounds, there will also be a special "Greatest Hits" package on vinyl for Euro release only. This will only add to the confusion of the album names in the catalogue, a policy the Daredevils are very much in favor of obviously. With over twenty new unrecorded originals, there's plenty of hits on the way Kids!
