Whiskey Daredevils Ready For Dream Weekend
This weekend we are celebrating a couple of creative parties, and show the power of going out and making your own fun. On Friday we are playing "Roar Along the Shore" here in Cleveland. The concept is that the Goodtime, a real big metal boat that usually takes tourists on a quick cruise, will instead become a floating indie rock booze cruise. Six bands all playing 30 minute sets on two different decks on what should be a beautiful night here in NE Ohio sounds like a really good idea. On Saturday we head to the wilds of Youngstown for Pabstolutely 6, a testament to what happens when a group of people decides to make the most of what they have at their disposal. If you've ever been to the Royal Oaks, you know the Kennedy Brothers know how to have a good time. Arguably these boys know how to have too good of a time, but in Youngstown as long as no one gets shot or set on fire, it's all good. Imagine a giant stage set up across the cross street at the Oaks, and over a dozen of the region's most interesting bands ripping it up at high volume. Now mix in cans of really cheap Pabst (or good microbrew on tap if you prefer), a bunch of local artists selling cool t-shirts/jewelry, and horrible ideas like Louie Kennedy in a bikini in a dunk tank screaming out terrible insults at any passerby. Perhaps the "Whirl and Hurl" will also make an appearance, a demonic merry go round powered by a jacked up engine daring festival attendees to hold down 14 Pabst. Last time we played I met an honest-to-God hobo named "Cosmic Sky", saw a hundred people dance to "Greasy Box" in monsoon level rains, and had the best time I've had in a long time. It starts around Noon. We play at 4. We'll be there by 1 at the latest...
